Trump Administration Raises Tariffs On India

August 6, 2025

On August 27, 2025, the Trump administration will begin increasing tariffs on all goods from India from 25-percent to 50-percent.

The administration is adding an additional 25-percent tariff because it believes India is directly or indirectly importing oil from Russia.

Additionally, the order states that the new rate won’t apply to goods that were loaded onto a vessel and already in transit to the U.S. before 12:01 a.m. EDT, 21 days after the order date, and are entered for consumption or withdrawn from a warehouse before 12:01 a.m. EDT on September 17, 2025.
